Unfortunately, each year, millions of Americans have their identities stolen. The crime takes many forms. Identity thieves may obtain a credit card, or establish a telephone account in your name. You may not find out about the theft until you review your credit report or a credit card statement and notice charges you didn't make.

What CNB is doing for you..

As your bank, CNB goes to great lengths to protect your personal information. But the opportunities for identity thieves exist in many places outside of the bank. We recommend that you should be very proactive about protecting your personal information. So we have partnered with Generations Gold to offer our Optimum and e-ssentials customers Identity Protection and Restoration Services.

Both services are free, but you are required to sign up for the Protection Services, which will become effective 10 business days after activation. More details.

What you can do for yourself..

Another resource you may choose to reference is the Federal Trade Commission’s website. This website offers information on what identity theft is, how it happens and what you can do to protect yourself. There are multiple tools available for on this website: 

Additionally, if you have not already, please be sure to order a free copy of your credit report. You are entitled to receive one of each of the main three agencies’ reports annually. You will need to request this either by phone or mail:

You may choose to request all three of these reports at once, or you may choose one and then wait a few months to run another and so on. This way you will actually be checking your credit three times per year at no cost.
