The latest deposit data show that home-grown Canandaigua National Bank & Trust Co. has hopscotched over giant JPMorgan Chase & Co. to take fourth place in the Rochester metropolitan area.
Data prepared by the Federal Insurance Corp. from deposits as of June 30 showed Chase's 30 local offices didn't lose deposits — they gained $63 million in the previous 12 months.
But with 23 branches, Canandaigua National gained $234 million, giving it a 10 percent share of the market and nosing ahead of Chase's 9.5 percent.
Most other banks in the area retained their 2008 rankings despite minor fluctuations. For the seventh year in a row, HSBC was No. 1, with a 22.5 percent share. M&T Bank was second with 18.4 percent while Citizens Bank maintained third with 12.1 percent.
Another community bank, Lyons National Bank, climbed one spot to rank 10th, trading places with Community Bank.
