The Salvation Army of Canandaigua will be partnering with Canandaigua National Bank & Trust (CNB) for its annual Red Kettle Christmas fund raising campaign – and bell ringing begins this Friday, November 25th.
CNB’s Main Office Community Manager, Deborah Rought, will serve as honorary chair of the holiday tradition that runs through December 24th, again this year.
“The red kettles are the most visible of our fundraisers, The Salvation Army relies on money raised in the red kettles to support social service programs year-round. All donations received in the kettles stay in the communities where the contributions are made to assist the local less fortunate,” said Captain James Brennan, pastor and administrator for the Canandaigua Salvation Army Worship and Community Center.
“At CNB, our commitment to the community is a large part of our culture and our core values. We are proud to partner with The Salvation Army and champion the Red Kettle Campaign, again for the fourth year in a row. The Salvation Army is a great organization which helps our friends and neighbors in need. Supporting communities and each other is what this partnership is all about,” said Deborah E. Rought, Vice President - Main Community Office Manager of Canandaigua National Bank & Trust.
“We have multiple kettles around Canandaigua and we use those funds to support local residents through a variety of programs and services throughout the year. Our goal for this year is $100,000 and we are really relying on our community to help their neighbors in need. Whatever amount people put into our Red Kettles is making change happen in Canandaigua,” explains Captain Brennan.
CNB will have kettles on November 25th, December 2nd, December 9th, and December 16th at the following branch locations:
- Main Office – 72 South Main St., Canandaigua*
- Victor Office – 61 West Main St., Victor
- Bloomfield Office – 4 Main St., Bloomfield
- Honeoye Office – 8633 Main St., Honeoye
- Lakeshore Office – 709 South Main St., Canandaigua
- Farmington Office – 6183 Route 96, Farmington
The Red Kettle Campaign kick-off was held at the CNB Main Office on November 4th. CNB kick started the campaign with a $1,000 donation. A check was presented to the Salvation Army of Canandaigua and Captain Brennan by Deborah Rought and Mike O’Donnell – VP, Business Banking Officer.
Red Kettle funds support ongoing programs including Phoenix afterschool and summer day camp programs, crisis intervention programs, The Golden Spot Senior Center, The Youth and Family Center, and holiday assistance programs including a community Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas toy shop and food baskets.
This year, The Salvation Army is seeking additional volunteers to ring bells at their red kettles. Families, businesses, school organizations, civic groups and churches are encouraged to sign up as volunteer bell ringers. As of right now, we are very short on man power and need help manning our Red Kettle Stands throughout Canandaigua and surrounding areas.
To volunteer, contact the Army office at (585) 394-6968. The Canandaigua Salvation Army, founded in 1895, is located on Saltonstall Street in Canandaigua.
