Four CNB Employees Recognized as 2020 Financial Leaders

The Rochester Business Journal in partnership with Financial Executives International, Rochester Chapter, has announced the honorees for Financial Leaders 2020 Awards. Four employees of Canandaigua National Bank & Trust (CNB) have been selected: Brendon Crossing, Michelle A. LaMachia, Linda M. Schnitzler, and Donna Cator.

The Financial Leaders 2020 Awards recognize financial professionals who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and to the Greater Rochester community during the past year.


B Crossing

Brendon Crossing, Senior Vice President and Group Manager, Commercial Services, was honored in the Commercial Banker category of Financial Leaders 2020. Crossing started with CNB in 1997 as a summer teller. He worked in Commercial Credit Administration and was promoted to a Commercial Lending position in 2005. In 2018 Crossing was promoted to SVP and appointed to the officer’s loan committee and has most recently taken on a team leadership role. He works with a diverse client base consisting of small business and middle market clients as well as real estate developers and investors. Crossing brings a strong educational background to his position having graduated from St. Bonaventure University, William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester, and New York Bankers Association Management School for Career Development. He has also dedicated many years to volunteering for Boy Scouts of America (BSA); serving as Treasurer for BSA, Seneca Waterways Council; and BSA, Troop 61, Treasurer and Committee Member.


M-LaMachia

Michelle A. LaMachia, Senior Vice President and Chief Auditor at Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, was recognized in the Internal Audit Director category. LaMachia joined the Internal Audit Department at CNB as an Audit Officer in 2003 and was promoted to Chief Auditor in 2011. She graduated from Mansfield University and completed her master’s degree at Shippensburg University. LaMachia has also received a Diploma of Graduation and a Wharton Leadership Certificate from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking. LaMachia is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and serves on the Board and Membership Committee for the local Rochester chapter. She participates in the Community Bank Auditors Peer Group and serves on the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House Board of Trustees and as chair of their Audit Committee.

 

L-Schnitzler

Linda M. Schnitzler, Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, was recognized in the Chief Risk Officer category. Her tenure at Canandaigua National Bank & Trust began in 1980 as general ‘back office’ staff. Schnitzler joined the newly formed Internal Audit Office in 1984 where she spent 27 years, of which the last 12 years were as Chief Auditor. In 2011, she was promoted to Chief Risk Officer. Schnitzler holds a bachelor’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College and completed her education at the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Over the span of her career she has also served the community through the Ontario/Yates Fund for Women and Girls (treasurer and founding member) and the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center (former treasurer).

 

D Cator 2014

Donna Cator, Vice President and Wealth Advisor, was honored in the Wealth Advisor category. She has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, beginning her career in 1986 in the retail banking field. She joined Canandaigua National Bank & Trust in 1998 and has since held a variety of management positions. Cator works with clients to develop and implement personal financial plans, providing financial guidance to assist clients in making informed, critical financial decisions. A graduate of SUNY Potsdam College, she also holds the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. Within the community, Cator is involved in many organizations: President, Temple Beth El; Treasurer, Temple Beth El, Geneva; member of Canandaigua Rotary Club; member of Society of Financial Service Professionals; and member of American Legion Auxiliary, Geneva Post 396.
