The Spot Receives a $2,000 Donation from Canandaigua National Bank & Trust and The Yacuzzo Family

Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, with a matching contribution from the Yacuzzo Family, has donated $2,000 to The Spot to kickstart 2020 fundraising efforts.

Established in 2017 by Executive Director Sarah Chilson, The Spot is a non-profit organization that provides free school supplies, clothing, personal care items, and food support to children in need in the Canandaigua School District. The Spot started as a simple sock and underwear drive with one volunteer and has grown into an annual back to school event, year-round free resource rooms within each Canandaigua school, and a group of nearly 80 volunteers. The Spot works closely with district social workers, interventionists, teachers, and administration to identify needs and distribute items to students in need of support. For more information, including volunteer and contribution opportunities, please visit TheSpotCanandaigua.org.

Vince Yacuzzo, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at CNB, along with his wife Tracey, were inspired to help champion this program after their daughter requested donations for The Spot instead of gifts for her 7th birthday.

In recognition of similar needs in other school districts, Canandaigua National Bank & Trust will be organizing a school supply drive in July of 2020. Donations will be accepted at all CNB Community Office locations. All items donated will be distributed to the school districts where branches are located. Donations from the Canandaigua Office will be provided to The Spot to help support their August Back to School free event.
