Penfield Bank Office Named Business of the Month

April 14, 2014
The Penfield Business Association has named the Canandaigua National Bank & Trust office at 1816 Penfield Road, Rochester, as its business of the month for April, 2014. They posted the following article on their website,

Situated in the former Penfield Tavern on the busiest 4-way intersection in Penfield, since 2004, is Canandaigua National Bank & Trust (CNB). The Hamlin family started CNB, the only local community bank, in 1887. Its current President & CEO is Frank H. Hamlin, III. For CNB, the term community bank means more than a century of being committed to the communities they serve. Of its 23 branches in Monroe and Ontario counties, CNB’s new College Town branch (its 24th location) is set to open this fall. The Penfield branch employs 7 people; CNB employs over 500 total people. The company celebrates its employees throughout the year with Service Awards, Employee Appreciation Day, peer ‘Way to Go’ awards, and an Employee Celebration Event each summer, just to name a few.

We spoke to Rick Pratt, Assistant Vice President- Community Office Manager and Kristen Littlefield, Community Office Assistant Manager.

Rick and Kristen like the "community" part best of working for CNB. They enjoy sitting down with customers and figuring out how to help them meet their changing life needs. To them, sitting down for face-to-face meetings builds relationships. CNB makes a trip to the bank a destination by having sit-down teller stations and furniture around a coffee station, and free Wi-Fi! Also, prior to opening a branch in any community they work closely with the local historian, making each branch unique to that community, which is further evident by the local, historical pictures at every location. Even its call center is locally based.

CNB takes pride in participating in many areas of the community. The Penfield branch has a complimentary Community Room; they do NOT call it a Board Room. Many local groups hold meetings there. They'd be happy to have additional organizations make use of it, please contact them if your group is interested in utilizing this meeting space. The Penfield branch is a member of the Penfield Business Association and the Penfield Chamber of Commerce. CNB Officers work with SCORE and other local, volunteer-run organizations to support small businesses by holding financial education and advice seminars. CNB also supports Penfield Little League, Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf, Penfield Music Commission Project and the Penfield Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. The Penfield branch office also serves as a ticket outlet for a variety of school and community events throughout the year. CNB’s Business of the Month program has grown to recognize local businesses twice a month based upon customer feedback, which offers even more local recognition for their business customers.

Please join us in congratulating Canandaigua National Bank & Trust in Penfield as the PBA’s business of the month for April!
