Target Card Breach

As you may be aware, Target has been the victim of a breach of payment card information that occurred sometime between November 27th, 2013 and December 15th, 2013.   Canandaigua National Bank & Trust (CNB) customers that made a card transaction at Target during those dates may be affected. 

At CNB, we believe Debit Card Security is best managed when both the customer and the Bank work together.   We would like to take this opportunity to educate you on how this can be achieved.

We encourage you to monitor your account activity on a regular basis, via your monthly statements or by using our CNB online banking, for any unauthorized transactions.  Online banking allows you easy access to monitor your accounts on a daily basis.  If you are not currently enrolled in online banking, simply visit and click on the Enroll button in the upper right hand corner to begin the process.   If at any time you suspect that there has been any authorized activity, please contact us immediately. 

As Canandaigua National Bank & Trust debit cardholders, you are automatically protected by FraudWatch Plus.  This service detects any suspicious transaction activity on your behalf, 24x7, 365 days a year.  Any transaction suspected as fraud will initiate a phone call to the debit card customer to verify the validity of the transaction.  Customers do not need to sign up for this service.  In order for this to work as intended, however, please make sure we have on file the phone number that you can be reached at most easily. We ask that you verify your contact information on your next phone call or visit to any of our locations.

We also encourage you to monitor activity on any other cards with which you may have used at this merchant during the time periods noted and to contact the card provider should you suspect unauthorized transactions.
