Bank Establishes Community Advisory Board Member of the Year Award

A dedicated and passionate advocate for Canandaigua National Bank & Trust was recognized with the bank’s first Community Advisory Board Member of the Year Award.

Barry Shapiro has been an advisory board member for 15 years and also serves on CNB’s Shareholder Relations board. Steve Benz, branch manager at the Honeoye Falls location, nominated Barry for this honor, describing him as a passionate supporter of the bank who is known for his weekly calls or emails, checking in to see what he can do to help.

His service and commitment are truly exemplary, and we are immensely grateful for his service and impact. We’re extremely fortunate and grateful to highlight Barry with this award, as he’s truly been a model member of our Community Advisory Board.”

The award recognizes a board member, nominated by their branch manager, whose service to the bank and their community have been exemplary. The five-part criteria to receive the award is:

  1. Completion of one, 3-year term
  2. Respected community member
  3. Supports the mission of Canandaigua National Corporation
  4. Contributes to successful growth of community office
  5. Attends and participates in Advisory Board meetings

The award was presented at the annual Advisory Board Meeting & Breakfast, and was held at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY. Advisory board members attended and received updates about the bank’s performance from a panel of executive leaders that included Crawford; EVP, Wealth Brands and Marketing Sam Guerrierri; EVP, Chief Lending Officer Charlie Vita; EVP, Chief Financial Officer Vince Yacuzzo; and President and CEO Frank Hamlin III.

After SVP, Director of Community Engagement Ginny Ryan moderated a panel discussion that covered various areas of the business, guests were welcomed to ask questions about any aspect they were interested in. Advisory board members are viewed as critical to the CNB team, both as community liaisons and as strategic partners.
